DHAKA: Rangpur Riders back in winning streak beating Sylhet Sixers by 4 wickets at the Sylhet International Stadium on Saturday (Jan 19).
Rilee Rossouw’s highest 61 runs off 35 balls and AB de Villiers’ 34 runs off 21 balls helped the team of Mashrafe Mortaza to grab the win after three successive loss.
Sixers scored 194 runs losing four wickets when Riders had sent them to bat first winning the toss. Sabbir Rahman took the highest 85 runs off 51 balls.
Chasing a huge 195-run target set by Sixers, Riders scored 196 runs losing six wickets with 3 balls remaining.
Rossouw was adjudged Player of the match for hitting 61 runs with nine boundaries and two over-boundaries.
At the presentation ceremony, Riders’ captain Mashrafe Mortaza said "If we had lost this, we might have been out of the tournament. We chose the difficult way to win, but it's nice, we got our confidence back. We can play the next match with confidence. Our batting depth is not very strong, but our top four are the most destructive players in the world. So we had the confidence that if we can score 60-65 in the Powerplay without losing wickets we can win, because AB is there. We are lucky enough that we could finish. The last few matches we couldn't. Today was 50-50, credit to Farhad for the way he hit."
