England Cruised To Series Win

ICC Men’s Super League Championship
Ireland Vs England ODI series played at Southampton
Ireland 212/9 (C Campher 68, HC Tector 28, Simi Singh 25, Adil Rashid 3/34, S Mahmood 2/45). David Willey 2/48) lost to England 216/6 (Jonny Bairstow 82, DJ Willey 47*, SW Billings 46*, LB Little 3/60,C Campher 2/50) by 4 Wickets.
Man of The Match: Jonny Bairstow

England winning the second ODI by 4 wickets against Ireland wrapped up the series 2-0 in the ICC Men’s super league.  Ireland improved marginally from the first match but not enough to cause any upset. England won the match with 17.3 overs to spare. True England had a little bit of stutter chasing a modest target of 220. But a stormy 82 in 41 deliveries by Jonny Bairstow, great depth and diversity of their batting got them to winning the second ODI of the three matches ODI series.

Ireland winning the toss elected to bat and lost too many wickets too early losing 5 wickets for 78 by the 25th over. Campher and Simi Singh steadied the Innings a little bit. Campher played well for his 68 .Ireland could produce a reasonable score of 212/9 giving the bowlers abit to ball at. Adil Rashid taking 3/34 looked good with his leg spin. David Willey chipped again with 2/44. Shakib Mahmood also got 2/44. Tall Topley bowled fast and furious.

A target of 220 was never going to test England. But on the day Bairstow appeared with his fluent bat. He blasted 82 in 41 balls spanking 14 fours and 2 towering sixes. But his mate Jason Roy failed again. Vince and Benton also could do nothing. But the blast of Bairstow kept England well on course. But after Bairstow left Irish youngster Little caused some stutter picking Morgan and Moeen Ali back to back for ducks. Reducing England to 137/6 Ireland could create some contest. But a cool and steady Sam Billings and talented all rounder David Willey steered the team out of woods producing a quality unbroken 79 runs 7th wicket stand. England won by 4 wickets with 17.3 overs to spare. This win took England to impregnable 2-0 lead. England pocketed 20 championship points from two matches of the championship.

Jonny Bairstow for his blistering 82 was adjudged man of the match. England has to review its top order batting. Perhaps Morgan has to get back at his customary number 4 and Root at number three. We are sure Ben Stokes and Buttler will also join when the team plays against Pakistan and Australia.
