On a slow turning pitch four top foreign recruits of Sunrisers Hyderbad (SRH), JJ Bairstow (53), DA Warner (45), KS Williamson ( 41) and Rashid Khan ( 4/13) did all for the Sun Rise in their mission IPL 2020 . In the battle of tournament leader and the bottom of the pack SRH won the low scoring match by 17 runs. Batting first SRH scored a moderate 162/4. DC could reach as far as 147/7. All 8 teams of IPL 2020 have now won at least one match. The competition is getting intense as tournament goes deeper.
DC Captain put SRH to bat keeping up with the trend of the tournament. Wicket was slow turner. Stroke play was not easy at all. Warner and Bairstow adjusting well put up a very useful 77 runs in the first wicket laying a solid foundation. Warner scored a restrained 45 in 33 deliveries. Manish failed. But Bairstow found a good allay with Black Cap Captain Williamson playing for the first time in IPL 2020. This very experienced players playing to the merit of each ball put up 52 runs in the 3rd wicket partnership. Bairstow scored 53 and Williamson 41. 162/4 on slow double paced wicket was not at all easy chasing.
On such a wicket with B Kumar opening the attack is always an advantage for SRH. He struck early removing inform Prithivi Shaw. They indomitable Rashid Khan in such circumstances took the wickets of Dhawan, Iyer and Pant giving away almost nothing. With cream of DC batting taken out they could not get beyond 147/7 losing by 15 runs. Rashid for his excellent figures of 4-0-13-4 deservedly won player of the match.
SRH registered their first win of IPL 2020. The tournament has now become wide open. Any team can beat any other team on their day.
