A great team effort by Bangladesh with most batsmen making useful contribution young Bangladesh all rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored brilliant maiden century (103). Coming to bat at number eight his fluent innings contained 13 confidents boundaries. Bangladesh scored 430 which in the context of the wicket and the match may be enough for a win. The slow low wicket has started turning and gripping. Bangladesh will four quality spinners would take stern test of West Indies batsmen. When West Indies starts batting after tea their immediate task would be trying to loose not more than two wickets on the day and trying to avoid following on day three. Batting on this surface tending to break on day three and four won't be easy.
It is a very rare occasion for Bangladesh when excepting Tamim (9) and Mustafiz (3*) all batsmen got start and made some useful contributions. Apart from Meraj scoring (103), Shakib (68) and Shadman (59) made half centuries. Mushfique and Liton each made 38. Mominul (26), Shanto (25), Naeem (24) also got start but could not get going. Taijul also scored 18. Bangladesh played 150.2 overs for scoring this runs.
It was great that most batsmen had good sight of West Indies bowling. But at the same time getting start and not converting also exposed lack of practice of longer version cricket for Bangladesh. West Indies bowlers hardly allowed any free bees. Bangladesh had to struggle for every run they scored. Early on this morning Liton left being played on off the bowling of Warricon. Star all rounder Shakib looked patient and cool as he along with Miraz 67 runs for the 7th wicket took Bangladesh to a zone of safety. After reaching 68 Shakib lost his cool. Playing an unnecessary cut stroke off Rakheem he threw away his wicket. However, Mehidy picked up where he left. Harboring with late middle order and the tail Miraz batting beautifully scored much awaited maiden century. Taijul and Naeem also gave him great company. Miraz did not do justice to his all rounder reputation being slotted at lower order. Perhaps this innings will change the course.
430 on this wicket already gripping and turning gives Bangladesh advantage with four quality spinners. West Indies need batting out of their skins for making a contest.
