Bangladesh cricket team so far played 31 matches across all formats of cricket against New Zealand in New Zealand and lost all. Today they are going to play 32nd match, the last T20 International at Eden Park, Auckland. Though it is extremely difficult for team tigers turning the table on tweeting Black Caps yet it is not impossible. For that happening Bangladesh has to appear with horses for the courses and play aggressively from the outset. Rain is in prediction, DRS may come into play like the second T20 at Maclean Park, Napier. No one has control over nature. We hope rain would not disadvantage Bangladesh like it did at Napier.
After digesting humiliating comprehensive white wash in ODI series another T20 series whitewash is looming for Bangladesh There is no option for team tigers to fight with their all might to win the match today. If that happens Mahmudullah squad will rewrite history. The boys of green and red would make Bangladesh bigger and brighter.
Bangladesh never played T20 on the biggest stadium of New Zealand but played one ODI in the past and lost. The playing surface is not big. It is a little bit triangular and boundary is short in one direction. Wicket would have pace and bounce. But good batmen can play strokes and would have good value of it.
The situation warrants Liton (no option but to continue with him as Mushfique is still not match fit) playing at least one good innings in the tour . Rookie Naim has already given a good account. Soumya has finally produced an innings of substance. One of the three has to bat deep and after getting start must not throw away the wicket. That would allow Mahmudullah, Afif and others build a challenging score. If Mosaddeq is free I would suggest playing him resting Mithun. Otherwise Shanto should be given an opportunity. I think Saifuddin leaked too many runs. Bangladesh can risk playing Rubel resting Saifuddin. Taskin, Rubel, Shoriful, Nasum, and Mehedy can win the match for Bangladesh. If necessary Soumya, Mosaddeq and Afif can bowl.
My suggested team for the day
Liton K Das, Mohammad Naim, Soumya Sarkar, Mahmudullah Riad, Mohammad Mithun / Mosaddeq Hossain, Afif Hossain, Mehedy Hasan, Saifuddin/ Rubel, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Hossain and Nasum Ahmed.
New Zealand as we are always telling is now riding on the purple path of their cricket history. During this COVID pandemic they arranged 7 international series and won each. Cannot blame players. They are up against very formidable opposition. Bangladesh did not have required preparations. They came without much home works as appeared from the flawed strategy. So far, they did not execute a Plan B. However, they looked positive in T20 under Riad.
ONE WIN WOULD CHANGE BANGLADESH. ONE WIN IS URGENTLY REQUIRED FOR BANGLADESH. FOR THAT HAPPENING BANGLADESH HAS TO CLICK IN ALL THREE DEPARTMENTS.
