Kylian Mbappe will have to stay at Paris Saint-Germain after Lionel Messi’s arrival, according to club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Mbappe is of serious interest to Spanish giants Real Madrid. His contract in the French capital expires next summer and there has been no indication that he is any closer to renewing his deal.
The arrival of Messi has led to further doubts over the 22-year-old’s future at PSG. Real are also thought to be poised to snap him up next summer if he does not renew his contract at PSG.
But Al-Khelaifi believes Messi, 34, joining PSG is part of the appeal of staying at the Parc des Princes.
Asked about Mbappe’s future, Al-Khelaifi said: “Everyone knows the future of Kylian. He is a competitive player, he wants to win, he wants to win trophies.
“He wants a competitive team, we have the most competitive team in the world. He can't do anything but stay.”
