Player of The Match: Jason Roy

In a thoroughly one-sided affair English Lions rocked and rattled awful Bengal tigers inflicting a huge 8 wickets defeat in the second match of both the teams at Iconic Sheikh Jayed stadium Abu Dhabi yesterday.

On an easy paced and even bounce wicket in the day game Bangladesh batting poorly produced well below par 124/9 in allotted overs. England cakewalked across and over the target scoring 126/2 in 14.1 Overs. Firm favorites ODI Champion England playing its first ever T20 I against Bangladesh looks good for closing in their mission for a berth in the semifinal. Winning two in two they set the bearings of their batsmen as much as possible as sad looking Bangladesh could hardly create any contest.

England in their first match rocked reigning champions West Indies. Bangladesh lost their first match against Sri Lanka. The way Bangladesh is playing; it is highly likely that they may not even win any match in the Super 12. Batting looking spine less, bowling appears toothless. Too much of talks but little actions. It was a frustrating day for thousands of Bangladeshis flocking at the stadium and millions watching on television from across the world.

The wicket was true. Bangladesh winning the toss batted first. English bowling was nothing extraordinary. The pathetic batting of Bangladesh continued with Liton failing once again and Naim following his partner like raw novice. The miseries compounded when Shakib also joined the one-way traffic towards the dugout.

Mushfique and Mahmudullah tried to resurrect. But these two senior professionals also could not steer the team out of woods. Mushfique fell to his infectious stroke reverse sweep scoring 29, Mahmudullah could not convert his start to something substantial. Bangladesh could reach 124/9 mainly due to some clean hitting by Nasum at the fag end producing unbeaten 19 in 9 balls with two sixes and a four. His was the only two over boundaries Bangladesh. With their innocuous spin bowling, Liam Livingstone (2/15) and Moeen Ali (2/18) capitulated Bangladesh. Tymal Mills varying his pace smartly strangled tigers taking 3/17. There cannot be any excuse for Bangladesh   not scoring 150-160 runs on a wicket not doing much at all. It was ranked poor batting and abysmal performance.

English batsmen took this opportunity as a batting practice. Jason Roy set his bearings right scoring 61 in 60 deliveries. David Malan remained unbeaten on 28. There was nothing to write about Bangladesh bowing. England won it easily scoring 126/2 in 14.1 Overs.

With equally poor batting and bowling Bangladesh cannot expect winning any match in this World Cup. It really hurts being a Bangladesh cricket admirer. England on the other hand is living to its potential.
