World Record: 4 Bangladeshis of TeamBDC cover 1670km in 48-hr

The four members of Bangladeshi cycling team -TeamBDC- sealed their names on the Guinness Book of World Record by covering 1670km in 48 hours.

These four cyclists are- Dravid Alam, Tanvir Ahmed, Rakibul Islam and Md. Alauddin. However, none of them are professional cyclists.

Guinness World Records authorities confirmed the matter on their website on Saturday.

However, to celebrate the 50th Victory Day of Bangladesh, the TeamBDC attempted to cover 1600km. The official name for the record is "Greatest Distance Covered by a Cycling Relay Under 48 Hours."

The attempt started in Purbachal, Sector 27, Jaynul Abedin Chattar. To meet the rigorous documentation requirements, a 1.7km loop of road was cordoned off. The team completed 1003 laps of this tiny track to achieve this record.

According to the TeamBDC, it aims to drive competitive cycling in Bangladesh and this event is to bring more awareness towards the largely neglected competitive cycling scenario in the country.

In 2016, BDCyclists, a community of Bangladeshi Cyclists, attempted a Guinness World Record for the longest single line of moving bicycles and succeeded.
