Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) has approved US-based satellite internet provider Starlink to operate in the country.
The approval was announced on Sunday (April 6) during a press conference held at the Foreign Service Academy for the "Bangladesh Investment Summit-2025."
BIDA and BEZA Executive Chairman (Senior Secretary) Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun shared the information.
He said that the approval for Starlink was granted on March 29, following a commitment to begin operations within 90 days.
As per BIDA regulations, foreign companies must register with the authority to operate in Bangladesh, and Starlink has completed this registration process.
The Executive Chairman also mentioned that Starlink is expected to apply for a Non-Geostationary Orbit (NGSO) license today. If the application complies with regulations, approval will be granted, allowing Starlink to conduct business in Bangladesh without any barriers.
