Industries ministry introduces e-filing

DHAKA: Industries ministry has taken initiatives to introduce e-filing system in every sphere of the ministry aiming to provide prompt service to the entrepreneurs.

The minister has experimentally initiated the system in its two branches and it is expected to be begun fully from January in 2015.

The disclosure came at a review meeting on the achievement of the ministry in past five years and its future development work-plan held at the ministry conference room in city on Monday.

Industries ministry additional secretary Mohammad Farhad Uddin delivered the welcome speech at the meeting, chaired by industries secretary Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan.

The ministry’s senior assistant secretary Mohammad Salim Ullah presented his speech on the achievement of the ministry in past five years and its future development work-plan.

Ministry’s higher officials along with its several corporations and organization chiefs attended the review meeting.

Speakers at the meeting said that the ministry has been working with short, mid and long term work-plans to increase the ministry’s contribution to the national economy.

The work-plans aim to contribute 40 percent from the industry sector to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) and 25 present workforces to the industry sector by 2021.

According to them, the industry sector had contributed 32 percent and workforces had added 20 percent to the GDP in 2013-14 FY.

The ministry has permitted to reprocessing 534 ships from 2009 to 2014 that has created direct and indirect job opportunities for over one lakh people.

Moreover, bilateral investment deals had been signed with the counties including Denmark, Turkey, UAE, Belarus and Cambodia over this period, they mentioned.

The ministry has also distributed Commercially Important Person (CIP) cards to 170 entrepreneurs to encourage them. It has also honored 10 industries with National Productivity and Quality Award to increase productivity.

In past five years, the ministry has also made several policies and regulations to strengthen the industry sector, the speakers added.
