DHAKA: The government has taken steps to train more 10,000 women in Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) sector.

However, they will be skilled under a World Bank financed ‘Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project’, the website of ruling Awami League said.

Regarding the matter, Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) executive director SM Ashraful Islam said that they have designed the module under LICT project.

The training will create 10,000 women and 20,000 men as IT skilled manpower in the new session and the training will begin soon, he said.

“We are happy that a considerable number of graduate women are also attending the online competitive examinations to join the training," he added.

Launched in early past year, the LICT project of BCC under ICT Division has been creating around 34,000 skilled manpower in IT sector by providing world-class training.

However, the trained women are expected to get better employment opportunities as compared to the traditional sectors in Bangladesh.
