Bangladeshi wins IRTF award

DHAKA: Bangladeshi IT specialist Misbah Uddin has achieved the prestigious Applied Networking Research Prize (ANRP) of Internet Research Task Force (IRTF).

He has been awarded with the prize recently at the 91st session of Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) held at Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu under Hawaii of USA.

Misbah, who completed his research at The Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, is the first Bangladeshi who has achieved this high-status award.

However, the prize consists of cash USD 500, invited talk at the IRTF Open Meeting, travel grant to attend a week-long IETF meeting (including airfare, hotel, registration and stipend), recognition at the IETF plenary, invitation to related social activities and potential for additional travel grants to future IETF meetings based on community feedback.

The Bangladesh national earned the honourable mention or developing matching and ranking for network search queries to make operational data available in real-time to management applications.

Nevertheless, only 17 persons, including Misbah, have received the award till now around the world.
