DHAKA: The government is going to bring the secretariat under WiFi coverage with a view to providing faster Internet service to officials.

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak will inaugurate the service on Sunday.

Project director (PD) Saiful Islam Wednesday said the secretariat is being taken under WiFi coverage with the support of National ICT Infra-Network for Bangladesh Government (Phase-II).

The WiFi zone will cover the entire area of the secretariat, he added. “After inaugurating the service on Sunday, the government official will be able to access internet simply using a PIN.”

According to the PD, the inaugural ceremony will be held at public administration ministry in city on December 21.

Apart from Zunaid Ahmed Palak, acting cabinet secretary (Coordination and Reformation) Nazrul Islam and acting ICT Division secretary Shyam Sunder Shikder will also be present at the ceremony, to be chaired by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) executive director SM Ashraful Islam.
