DHAKA: Government has unblocked popular online voice and instant messaging services – Viber and WhatsApp – early Thursday.

Users began receiving full services of Viber and WhatsApp around 12:15am.

On January 17, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) blocked Viber and Tango due to security purpose, followed by blocking three more services –WhatsApp, Mypeople and Line – on January 19.

Smartphone users normally use these applications for talking, chatting and sharing photos and videos through WI-FI, 3G and 4G networks.
