Free internet services launched

DHAKA: Robi subscribers of the country started getting free internet services under the facebook project titled internet.org.

Government’s information and communication technology (ICT) department, Facbook and Robi Axiata jointly launched the services at a city hotel on Sunday.

Customers of Robi Axiata can browse 25 websites at free of cost through the services.

The internet.org will facilitate users to get free access to 25 websites, including government job circular, E-commerce, online marketplace, education, health service for women, weather update, important phone numbers and media.

State minister for information and communication technology affairs Zunaid Ahmed Palak attended the program as chief guest while information and communication technology (ICT) department secretary Shyam Sundar Sikdar as special guest.

Robi Axiata’s chief marketing officer (CMO) Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, facebook global operator partnership director Markku Makelainen, Robi Chief Executive Officer Supun Weerasinghe, Chief Corporate and People Officer Motiul Islam, among others, were also present at the program.
