Internet cost to come down

DHAKA: The government has taken decision on Monday to reduce the cost of internet from September 1 to access the global network easily.

The users will get 1 MBPS (Megabyte per second) in a reduced price of Tk 625 from the previous rate Tk 1,068.

However, the price will be applicable for them who will buy minimum 10 GB bandwidth.

Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL) managing director Monowar Hossain said that users in Dhaka, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar districts will enjoy the reduced price.

The rate for India export for every bandwidth has been fixed 10 USD, said BSCCL sources adding that the internet price in Bangladesh has been reduced to adjust with the export rate.

BSCC MD further said that the reduced price will encourage people in using internet.
