CCOAB threats ‘digital hartal’

DHAKA: Cyber Café Owners Association of Bangladesh (CCOAB) has threatened to impose ‘digital hartal’ by stopping their internet services across the country.

CCOAB president SM Zulfiqar Haidar made this threat at a press conference at National Press Club in city on Monday.

The hartal will be imposed if Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) does not provide Internet Service Provider (ISP) license and if the Commission harasses the applicants, Zulfiqar said.

According to the CCOAB president, they will call a program to gherao BTRC offices across the country on October 28 if their 6-point demands are not met within October 27.
