DHAKA: State minister for posts and telecommunications Tarana Halim is set to hold a meeting with Facebook authorities in Singapore on January 12.

She made this disclosure at a press conference at secretariat in city on Wednesday (January 6).

‘We will discuss about cyber security, dishonor to women and other related issues,’ Tarana said adding, ‘we will tell the authorities concerned to establish Facebook administration in Bangladesh’.

However, Tarana Halim will visit Singapore in January 12 to hold meeting with Facebook and then visit Malaysia to hold meetings with Microsoft and Google authorities.

‘We have already sent the focal points of our discussion with Facebook to them. We will also uphold the numbers of our complaints to the authorities concerned.’

The sate minister further said, ‘We have also requested them to consider the complaints on the ground of our socio-cultural and religious matters’.

According to her, the government wants to follow the best practices of the world regarding Facebook use in the country.
