Saint Joseph School wins I-Gen 2015 championship

DHAKA: Saint Joseph Higher Secondary School of Dhaka became the champion of i-Gen (Internet Generation) 2015, the internet-based competition.

The program was held at Basundhara International Conference Centre (BICC) on March 10 (Thursday), says a press release issued by the Grameenphone (GP) on Friday (March 11).

The champion team won a total scholarship worth Tk 25-lakh as well as was awarded with internet lab set up in the school premises for all of its students.

Of the scholarship, First Security Islami Bank Limited sponsored Tk 10-lakh, GP Tk 10-lakh and Woori Bank Tk 5-lakh along with Laptops for Internet lab sponsored by Microsoft.

Habigonj Govt High School and Bogra Cantonment Public School became the first and second runner ups respectively.

First runner-up team won scholarship worth Tk 10-lakh, sponsored by Ekhanei.com and the second runner-up team won scholarship worth Tk 5-lakh, sponsored by Mutual Trust Bank Limited.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was the Chief Guest of the program.

Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Channel-I managing director Faridur Reza Sagar, GP chief corporate affairs officer Mahmud Hossain and chief marketing officer Yasir Azman along with other high-ups of the telecom operator were present at the event.

The I-Gen program is being organized since 2011. Over the years, it has become the biggest internet based event in the country, and has covered 2,000 schools with direct participation of around nine lakhs audience in 2015.

I-Gen 2015 event was endorsed by the education ministry along with renowned partners like Alpenliebe, Microsoft, Opera Mini, Ekhanei.com, Mutual Trust bank Ltd., First Security Islami Bank Ltd., Woori Bank, Channel-I and Radio Foorti.
