DHAKA: World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is being marked in Bangladesh along with other countries.

With the slogan of ‘ICT-based commercial initiatives are needed for social development’, the telecommunication ministry has chalked out different programs to mark the day.

State minister for posts and telecommunications Tarana Halim inaugurated a colorful road-show at Manik Mia Avenue in city on Tuesday morning (May 17).

Telecommunication secretary Fayzur Rahman Chowdhury, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmud and representatives from cell phone operators also took part in the show.
