DHAKA: Mobile phone operator Robi launched its cloud service at a gala event in Radisson Blu hotel.

Robi Cloud is a suite of cloud computing and hosting solutions tailored for Bangladeshi businesses. Robi Cloud begins its journey by offering a fully managed IT infrastructure service for the business enterprises of the country.

Solutions included server colocation, virtual server hosting, disaster recovery and business continuity as well as vault and archiving of data.

Robi Cloud is hosted in Robi’s state-of-the-art telco-grade data center in Dhaka, said a press release on Sunday (August 21).

Robi Managing Director and CEO, Supun Weerasinghe; CEO-in-waiting, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed; Chief Corporate and People Officer, Matiul Islam Nowshad; Executive Vice President (EVP), Business Operation, Jean-Michel Arnaud Chanut; EVP, Enterprise Business, Adil Hossain Noble; EVP, Central Operations, Technology, Khaledur Rahman Dewan; EVP, Enterprise Program Management Office, Ahammad Jubaer Ali were present on the occasion.

According to the release, while businesses in Bangladesh can avail similar services from foreign providers, Robi Cloud is uniquely positioned to fulfill and serve the requirements of latency and data sovereignty related issues.

With Robi Cloud solutions, businesses can gain advantages from faster time-to-market through scalability, flexibility and agility that come with the cloud, it added.

Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited is Robi’s technology partner in this initiative. The technology giant has built and deployed the modular data center for Robi’s Cloud platform along with the end-to-end data center management solution that implements unified management of multiple data centers.

Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Colin Shi; CTO, Data Center Solutions Sales, IT Product Line, Huawei Global, Ronald Wright Raffensperger and Account Director for Robi Axiata Limited Ni Kai were also present at the launching event.
