DHAKA: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and also her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy will receive ‘ICT for Development Award’ on September 19.

He was conferred with the award for his outstanding contribution in enhancing ICT facilities in Bangladesh.

The award giving ceremony will be organized by World Organization of Governance and Competitiveness, Plan Trifinio, Global Fashion for Development and School of Business of the University, Connecticut in USA.

Joy’s recognition of his unparallel contribution to the people of Bangladesh through the implementation of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ initiatives as well as his unique leadership and commitment towards ICT for sustainable development, said ruling Bangladesh Awami League website.

Introduced this year, the award will be given regularly on an annual basis.

Eminent actor Robert Davi will hand over to Joy at a high-level reception in support of the First Anniversary of the Adoption of the UN SDGs and the Importance of ICT and Competitiveness as a tool for Sustainable Development.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as well as ministers and high-level political leaders from Bangladesh and other countries, UN senior officials, heads of International Organizations, Ambassadors, private sector and civil society leaders and celebrities are expected to attend the occasion.

Born in 1971, Joy earned his Bachelor of Science degree with computer Science, Physics and Mathematics from Bangalore University of India.
