DHAKA: The activities of most awaited “Dot Bangla” domain will be kicked off from country’s victory day that falls on December 16.

It will take Bangla language in a new height in the world.

Posts and Telecommunications state minister Tarana Halim expressed the hope making the declaration of “Dot Bangla” opening at a press briefing at city’s secretariat on Tuesday (October 18).

The server, price rate’s draft and human resource are ready for the domain, now the works of automation is underway.

The domain will help Bangla content makers to earn and make the language stronger.

The state minister said the government is working on to establish a regulation to use the domain.

According to the proposal, the yearly charge has been fixed Tk 500 while Tk 10,000 for private site. Interested people can subscribe for two years in the first phase.

They also applied in West Bengal and Sierra Leone for “Dot Bangla” domain, Tarana Halim added.

She added that Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Number (ICANN) included Bangladesh in the board meeting on October 5.

They sent a formal letter in this regard on October 12, she stated.
