DHAKA: Bangabandhu-1, the first satellite of the country, will be launched on December 16 next year.
Posts and telecommunications state minister Tarana Halim made the disclosure at a press conference at Mohakhali Telephone Bhaban in city on Friday (October 21).
So far 50 percent works of the project have been complete and other works will be done within the project deadline November, 2017.
Bangladesh has got orbit for the Bangabandhu satellite, which is set to be launched in December, 2017.
The opportunity has come through an agreement inked between Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and Intersputnik International organization of Space Communications at BTRC auditorium in city Thursday afternoon.
