NSU organizes Technovanza 2016

DHAKA: A 2-day event Technovanza was held on North South University (NSU) campus in city from October 21.

The event aiming to showcase creativity and thirst for innovation was organized by Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) NSU student branch.

The event consisted of seven different competitions such as Line Follower Robot Challenge, Poster Presentation, Project Showcase, Green Brain, Rubik’s Cube, Engineering Olympiad, Sumo Robot Fight and a Women Empowerment Session.

In the opening ceremony, special video messages from IEEE President Elect 2016 and IEEE President 2017 Karen Bartleson and Chair of IEEE Women in Engineering Committee Takako Hashimoto were shown where they congratulated the organizing committee for the inaugural ceremony and wished them, and the participants, good luck for the event.

The organizing committee along with the invited guests had launched the first WIE Magazine ‘Prodigy’ as a souvenir of Technovanza.

The chief guest of the event was the NSU vice-chancellor Professor Atiqul Islam.

Chairman of NSU’s ECE department Dr Rezaul Bari, IEEE R10 WIE coordinator Dr Celia Shahnaz, Aamra Smart Solution business head Sulaiman Shukhon and The Maya App Team were present as special guests.

Student branch adviser Tanjila Farah of WIE AG, ex-WIE counselor Dr Lamia Iftekhar, organizing committee members, several other faculties of NSU and over 250 participants from 12 different universities of Bangladesh were also present here.

At the end of the event, special prize money, crests, along with certificates, were distributed among the winners.
