GP ‘Smart City Hackathon’ starts Friday

DHAKA: The first ever Smart City Hackathon will began on Friday (November 11) at GP House, the corporate head office of Grameenphone in city.

Preneur Lab and White Board, an initiative of Grameenphone, arranged the event aiming to find digital solutions for many problems of Dhaka.

The capital of Bangladesh is the one of the largest mega cities of the world but scores poorly in habitability scale.

Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Annisul Huq will inaugurate the event.

This 36-hour hackathon will be participated by 30 teams. The winning team will win three months co-working space at White-Board with access to GP’s digital ecosystem.

White-Board will provide relevant knowledge and asset support to solidify the winning prototype. A special demo day will be arranged through White-Board for commercial presentation.

A six-month start-up mentorship support will be provided by Preneur Lab in addition to 6-month mentorship from IEEE BDS and IPR, as well as incubation support from Dnet (Junction).

There will be funding opportunity up to Tk 2.5 million each from Spider Digital (Dubai) and the ICT Division of the MOPT respectively.
