DHAKA: The mobile-phone subscriber in the country reached nearly 107 million at the end of July with about 10 million new users in the first seven months of this year, official data showed Thursday.
According to Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), the total number of cell phone users in the South Asian country of over 153 million people reached 106.934 million at the end of July 2013.
The latest BTRC data showed the number of subscribers of six cell phone operators--Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi, Airtel, Citycell, Teletalk--at the end of July stood at 44.67 million, 27.32 million, 23.77 million, 7.90 million, 1.36 million and 1.92 million respectively.
Bangladesh’s cell phone companies sold nearly 12 million new connections in 2012, raising the country’s total subscribers to 97.18 million by the end of December, showed the BTRC data.
