DHAKA: Terming networking a powerful medium, speakers at a roundtable, said it helps the women become more efficient for developing their leadership.
They were addressing a roundtable titled “Networking for Women Development and Leadership”, organized by Professionals & Intellectuals Networking Community (PINC) in associate with Hitachi & The Monthly Techworld Bangladesh in city’s Karwan Bazar area on April 1, 2017.
Former Ambassador Nasim Ferdous was present at the session as Keynote Speaker where Nazneen Kamal, Managing Director , Anupam Infotech Limited, Farhana A Rahman , Vice President , BASIS, Farzana Khan, Deputy General Manager, SME Foundation, Nahida Sultana, Banking professional, Mehnaz Kabir, COO Communications Officer, Ranks Telecom Limited, Ferdousi Akter, Project Manager, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Salina Parveen, Senior Administrative Officer, Beautiful Mind, Nasimun Ara, President, BNSK, Iffat sharmin, CEO, Jamdani Ville, Daina Zaman, DGM, ADN Telecom, Prof. Jebunnessa, Public Administration Department, Jahangirnagar University, Dr. Nishat Parveen, City Corporation , Dhaka South, Sharmin Rahman, Charman, RofRof, Ivy Wahid Khan, Managing Director, Happy Home Prokashoni and Nazia Mannan, Executive Member, PINC were also present at the session as speaker.
This roundtable was moderated by Ms. Jahrat Adib Chowdhury, President PINC and the welcome speech was delivered by the Joint Secretary of PINC Ms. Habiba Nasreen.
In her keynote speech, Nasim Ferdous said Bangladesh is in a better position in women development than the other countries in the world. But the women participation in the leadership position is not up to the mark. In this regard, we have to enhance our collaboration and skills as well. Even, the networking among the women should also be expanded. I think the initiatives that taken by PINC will get enriched more here.
Actually, women themselves have to create their own ways and they do have that courage and skills. Once the female employees were very few in profession and workplaces were not encouraging for them and even, the society didn’t posses such mentality then to accept women in leading position. Time has changed, so we should move forward together with confidence remembering that we should have made our own way to walk.
Our girls are brave and we always in the leadership to break the glass ceiling as our barrier since a long, so we have the power of leadership just need to connect it with the community development, said President of BNSK Nasimun Ara Minu.
The networking initiatives should be decentralized. We should connect the girls and women out of the Dhaka city if we want the development of our country women as whole—said Director of Anupam Infotek Limited Nazneen Kamal.
BASIS Vice President Farhana A Rahman said in her speech that -Women have to have the courage to raise their voice for their demand and have to know how fight for their right with intense intension. And networking among themselves need to be stronger in order to move forward.
I do believe that a women is herself the inspiration for her success and they should work together to make their own way to develop. And networking is important here---said Editor of TechWorld Bangladesh Nazneen Nahar.
Sharing the Success of special children, Senior Administrative Officer of Beautiful Mind Salina Parveen said- The girls with disabilities are also potential if we can connect them, then they also can contribute the society.
As professional, women have to play vital role both in there working place and home they should care their health first and for that a yearly checkup is essential, said Doctor Nishat parveen.
Networking is began at home, so if we have a good mother and encouraging in laws then all of our women can do better in life-said Professor Jebunnesa, Public Administration Department of Jahangirnagar University.
Girls should have their own dream to achieve along with the dedication and hard work to make it happen, as Chairman of RofRof Sharmin Rahman said.
We should keep our home environment healthy with healthy food habit and lifestyle and this enhances our spirit to work and connect with development, said Ms. Ivy Wahid Khan.
Self-confidence is very important for girls to step ahead and networking enhances the self-confidence, so we need to unite, said Nahid Sultana
It is tough to work with grassroots as the social outlook is still has not improve enough to accept women leadership in profession or business, so we need to focus on these area for the comprehensive development, said Iffat Sharmin
If we started to connect at least our surroundings girls with us then it will make sense and will turned into a big chain of networking and development—said Ferdousi Akter
As being a team leader I am always looking for girls to add in my team but still women participation in ISP profession is not remarkable , we need more girls in IT to grab the opportunity of its- said Daina Zaman
