DHAKA: Russia is set to invest on a large scale in the IT sector of Bangladesh. A deal with leading Bangladeshi IT company ‘Unicom Bangladesh’ was signed with an aim to develop cyber security and e-governance jointly. 

The deal was signed between Unicom Bangladesh and Right, at Confidence Center of the capital’s Progati Sarani on Wednesday (April 11) evening. The deal was signed by Russian Information technology Export (RITE)’s Practice Director Alexi Chugonov and CEO of Unicom Md. Shahidul Munir.

Under the deal, Russia will provide security in the IT of Banking sector of Bangladesh and will work in the different Hi-Tech facilities of the government.

After signing the deal, Alexi Chogonov informed that ‘they are planning to make big investments in the Bangladesh IT sector. They will work in developing the government IT, different service sectors and bring those under technological support, build smart city, education, insurance and other related IT services.’

They will work in the programming of the games for children, robotic technological knowledge and to enhance the IT skill of the people and train them. Unicom Bangladesh will work as their partner in Bangladesh, told Alexi.

CEO of Unicom Md. Shahid ul Munir told that in It Russia is very developed. They are also advanced in cyber security. Right will provide their technology in the country’s banking sector and various government service sectors. Right will give us new technology. Right will start working in post offices and police functioning facilities. 

Besides, a team of RITE will asses the sectors where they will work. Meanwhile this organization has approved this huge amount of investment in Bangladesh which will be spent in the IT sector.
