TANGAIL: State Minister for Information Tarana Halim said the process to commercial use of Bangabandhu-I satellite is expected to begin within next 6-7 months.
Meanwhile, the satellite has started to send signals, she said.
“Bangabandhu satellite has a total of 40 transponders. Of them, 20 will be used for our country and the rest 20 for other countries”
Tarana Halim was addressing a view-exchanging meeting with journalists, at Tangail Circuit House, on Saturday morning (May 26).
“Usually, the countrywide communication by ICT means gets suspended as internet service face disruption during adverse weather. From now on, internet service will remain uninterrupted and will be expanded, for having the Bangabandhu-I satellite,” added Tarana.
However, Tangail Deputy Commissioner Khan Md Nurul Amin, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjit Kumar Roy and Tangail Press Club President Jafar Ahmed, among others, attended the meeting.
However, Bangabandhu-I, Bangladesh’s first commercial satellite, has been thrown to the orbit recently.
