US Accelerance to boost Bangladeshi software sales in foreign markets Post, Telecommunication and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar among others at the accord signing ceremony

DHAKA: Accelerance, US-based software outsourcing company, has signed an agreement to provide assistance in boosting the sales of Bangladeshi made software in foreign markets.

Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) and Accelerance signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the office of ICT minister Mustafa Jabbar in city’s Agargaon area on Thursday (Oct 4).

Accelerance president Andy Hilliard and BCC’s Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance project acting director Tarek M Barkatullah singed the deal for respective organizations. 

Post, Telecommunication and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar, BCC executive director Partha Pratim Dev, LICT project component team leader Sami Ahmed, Accelerance vice-president Hugh Morgan and chief delivery officer Jim Marascio were also present at the accord signing ceremony.

According to the agreement, Accelerance will assist in boosting the marketing and sales of software services developed by different companies of Bangladesh in English language-based US, European and Australian markets. 

At the program, Mustafa Jabbar said, “The government is creating an IT ecosystem to develop the ICT sector of the country in accordance with transformation of Digital Bangladesh. Remote areas of the country are being brought under internet connectivity by installing optical fiver cable and some 140 million people of the country are now using mobile phones.     

Mentioning that mobile banking is gaining rapid popularity, he said, “Thousand crore taka is being transacted everyday on average. Mobile banking is providing service to village areas that lack normal banking services.” 

Technology is evolving everyday and Bangladesh government is taking and implementing various initiatives to cope with the change, the minister added.
