Dhaka University (DU) students staged a protest in front of Shahbagh Police Station on Sunday, demanding justice for the murder Shahriar Alam Shammo.
The demonstration began this afternoon, with students gathering at the police station after marching from the Raju Memorial Sculpture. This follows a previous protest on May 16, when students issued a 48-hour ultimatum for authorities to arrest the main suspect.
Samya, a student of DU’s Institute of Education and Research and a leader of the Chhatra Dal, was fatally stabbed near Suhrawardy Udyan on May 13 while riding his motorcycle. Police have arrested three suspects—Tamim Hawlader (30), Samrat Mallik (28), and Palash Sardar (30)—all residents of Madaripur.
Protesters vowed to continue their movement until justice is served. They urged authorities to ensure a fair trial and take action against those responsible for the killing.
