North South University (NSU), Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and UniMed UniHealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd., one of the country’s leading pharmaceutical companies, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate and establish a long-term industry-academia partnership.

The MoU was signed at a formal ceremony held at NSU’s campus, signed by the esteemed Vice-Chancellor of NSU, Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, and Mr. M Mosaddek Hossain, Chairman, UniMed UniHealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd. The ceremony was attended by Pro-VC (IC) of NSU, faculty members, researchers, and representatives from both institutions. 

This strategic partnership aims to foster research and innovation, enhance the development of the pharmaceutical industry, and create opportunities for students and researchers to engage in practical, industry-driven projects.

The MoU establishes a broader framework for industry-academia collaboration. Through this partnership, students and faculty members from NSU will have access to internships, joint research opportunities, and professional training programs at UniMed UniHealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd. The collaboration will also facilitate knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and skill development initiatives, preparing students for the evolving demands of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Vice-Chancellor of NSU Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury emphasised the significance of this partnership, stating, “This MoU marks a pivotal step in bridging academia and industry. By collaborating with UniMed UniHealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd., we aim to provide our students with hands-on learning experiences and contribute to cutting-edge research that will benefit Bangladesh’s healthcare sector.”

Mr. M Mosaddek Hossain, Chairman of UniMed UniHealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd., also expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, adding, “As one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh, we are committed to fostering innovation and research. This partnership with NSU will not only help in skill development but also create pathways for groundbreaking research in the pharmaceutical industry.”

The Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Md. Hossain Shariare mention that - The collaboration will focus on pharmaceutical research, drug development, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs to contribute to the sustainable growth of the healthcare sector.

This collaboration reflects NSU’s commitment to excellence in education, research, and industry engagement, reinforcing its role as a pioneer in academic innovation.

The MoU is expected to open new avenues for students, researchers, and industry professionals, strengthening Bangladesh’s position in pharmaceutical research and development.
