IUB School of Law becomes runner-up at the BUP National Moot Court Competition 2025

The School of Law of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) secured the runners-up position at the BUP National Moot Court Competition 2025, held from September 11–14, 2025, at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), Dhaka.

The competition was organized under the BUP National Law Fest (Chapter-II) to provide students a platform to develop legal research and advocacy skills through simulated court proceedings. The moot problem of this year’s competition concerned economic sanctions, artificial intelligence, surveillance, and human rights.

A total of 27 teams from universities across the country registered for the competition. After evaluation of memorial submissions, 16 teams advanced to the oral rounds. Representing IUB were oralists Alisha Mou Esha (2nd semester), Lokman Shahriar (5th semester), along with researcher Mysha Sarwar Tuba, (2nd semester).

This was the first moot court participation for all three students, who were guided by Maimuna Syed Ahmed, Moderator of the IUB Moot Court Society, with additional preparation through the society’s Mooting Mentorship Programme.

Team IUB won both preliminary rounds on September 12 to qualify for the quarterfinals later that day. The semifinals and final were held on September 13 at the Bijoy Auditorium. The competition concluded with the closing ceremony of the BUP Law Fest on September 14 at the Shadhinota Auditorium.
