North South University observes World Pharmacists Day 2025 under the theme “Think Health, Think Pharmacist”

North South University (NSU) on Thursday (Sep 25) solemnly marked World Pharmacists Day 2025, with a program of academic awareness, and community outreach events organized by joint efforts of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the NSU Pharmaceutical Club. In alignment with the International Pharmaceutical Federation’s chosen slogan for this year “Think Health, Think Pharmacist” NSU’s observance sought to reaffirm the essential role of pharmacists in strengthening health systems and promoting public well-being. 

The program was inaugurated in a rally and formal ceremony attended by distinguished guests, including Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of North South University; Professor Abdur Rob Khan, Treasurer and Pro-Vice Chancellor (In-Charge); Professor Dr. Dipak Kumar Mitra, Dean of the School of Health Sciences; Mr. Syed A.B Tahmeed, Director of Marketing and Sales, Synovia Pharma; and Professor Dr. Mohammad Hossain Shariare, Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at North South University. Their addresses articulated a unified message that the health of populations depends vitally on committed, ethical, and well-integrated pharmacy professionals.

The purpose of the event was to recognize the pharmacists’ as a key stakeholder in healthcare system, medication safety, health literacy, preventive care, and system sustainability. They called for greater integration of pharmacists into policymaking, research, and community health strategies.

Parallel to these addresses, the day’s agenda included  interactive student–faculty sessions, and public engagement activities. Through these initiatives, NSU reiterated its commitment to cultivating pharmacy graduates who will rise above routine roles to proactively contribute to national and global health goals.
