Acclaimed Bangladeshi writer Rakib Hasan, best known for creating the popular teen detective series “Tin Goyenda,” has died.

He passed away on Wednesday (Oct 15) afternoon while under care at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhaka, hospital officials said.

According to hospital sources, Rakib Hasan was a regular dialysis patient at the hospital and died shortly before the procedure was due to begin.

Born on December 12, 1950, in Cumilla, Rakib Hasan spent his early years in Feni due to his father’s postings. After finishing school in Feni, he enrolled at Comilla Victoria Government College. He held several jobs before giving them up to write full time.

Rakib Hasan launched his literary career at Sheba Prokashoni, initially translating classics and later writing prolifically under his own name and pen names.

Over the decades he authored more than 400 books, including the “Tarzan,” “Goyenda Raju,” and “Reza-Suza” series. He earned enduring fame for “Tin Goyenda,” a flagship line in Sheba’s Kishore Thriller imprint that became a touchstone for generations of Bangladeshi readers
