Myriad minded Rabindranath at IGCC

DHAKA: In celebration of 155th Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) organized lectures here in city on Friday (May 6).

Three distinguished speakers gave lectures at the program titled ‘Myriad minded Tagore’ at the IGCC.

The lectures were on social, philosophical and poetic concerns of Rabindranath Tagore.

Hemal Shringla, spouse of Harsh Vardhan Shringla, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, spoke on ‘Women protagonists in three novels and one novella by Tagore.

Bulbul Mahalanobish, General Secretary, Rabindra Academy, Dhaka, shed light on ‘Rabindranath O Bishwa Manabata’ - Tagore the Humanist while M.N Kundu, newspaper columnist, spoke on ‘Kobi Rabindranath’ - Tagore the Poet.

Hemal Shringla said the female characters of Tagore depicted around 100 years ago is still so modern. He sketched them as fighters against social prejudices and superstitions.
