DHAKA: Bollywood singer-composer-actor Himesh Reshammiya got married to his girlfriend TV actor Sonia Kapoor in a private ceremony, reports ndtv. 

The news of the singer's marriage to his longtime girlfriend comes close on the heels of two other Bollywood weddings- that of Sonam Kapoor with Anand Ahuja and of Neha Dhupia with Angad Bedi. 

Himesh and Sonia reportedly tied the knot at his residence Friday night (May 11), making the internet flood with congratulatory messages from fans and other Bollywood stars. Himesh announced his marriage to Sonia Kapoor on his social media pages.

This is the second marriage of the composer. Sonia is a television actor and has starred in shows such as Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai, Jugni Chali Jalandhar, Yes Boss and Remix.

The wedding was a close-knit affair with just the parents of the couple and Himesh’s son from his first marriage, Swayam, present on the occasion.

“We have been together for a long time, so marriage was a natural progression. It feels wonderful to formalise our relationship,” Himesh told Mid-Day.

Himesh had last year been granted divorce from Komal, his wife of 20 years. Their decision to separate was described as amicable by Himesh. The news of their separation first came to light in September 2016 when they filed for divorce, reports Hindustan Times.

Songs like Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Tera Suroor, Zara Jhoom Jhoom, Jhalak Dikhlaja, Andaz Apna Apna, Shakalaka Boom Boom, Hookah Bar, Chalao Na Naino Se, Tandoori Nights are some of Himesh’s popular numbers as a singer. He directed music for a large number of big hit movies over the year since 1998.

His maiden film as an actor Aap Kaa Surroor was released in 2007 and nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut and Stardust Award for Superstar of Tomorrow.
