Dengue: One dies, 29 hospitalised in 24 hours

One more dengue patient died while 29 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (January 18), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, nine dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 20 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.

Besides, this year a total of 11 patients died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 785 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. 

Of them, 287 were in Dhaka and 498 were outside the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 626 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 221 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 404 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 59 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 90 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 1,705 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 3, 21, 179 patients were admitted in hospital.
