Dengue continues to claim lives across Bangladesh, with three more deaths reported in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same period, 782 new patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide.
A health bulletin issued on Monday by the Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room of the DGHS said that the total number of hospitalised dengue patients this year has now risen to 50,689.
Of the new cases reported in the past 24 hours, 174 patients were admitted in areas outside Barishal city, 83 in Chattogram division (excluding the city corporation area), and 145 outside Dhaka city. Within the capital, 118 cases were reported under the Dhaka North City Corporation and 90 under Dhaka South City Corporation.
Other divisions also saw new hospitalisations: 57 in Khulna, 35 in Mymensingh, 64 in Rajshahi, 11 in Rangpur, and five in Sylhet.
During the same period, 745 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. So far this year, a total of 48,001 patients have recovered and been released from medical care.
Since the beginning of 2025, 50,689 dengue cases have been recorded, of which 60.9% are male and 39.1% female.
The latest three fatalities bring the total dengue death toll this year to 215, underscoring continued public health challenges despite ongoing prevention measures.
In comparison, 575 dengue-related deaths and 101,214 infections were recorded in 2024. The year 2023 marked Bangladesh’s worst dengue outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 321,179 hospitalisations nationwide.
