China to assist burn victims

DHAKA: China’s newly appointed ambassador to Bangladesh Ma Mingqiang expressed his country’s eagerness to provide assistance to Bangladesh’s burn units.

The envoy expressed the eagerness during his courtesy visit to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban in the city on Thursday evening.

The premier’s press secretary AKM Shahmim Chowdhury told the media in a briefing.

According to the press secretary, the China envoy told the PM that they want to provide assistance to the burn units for the treatment of the victims.

The premier also talked about the establishment of a burn institute in the country. She also talked about the necessity of equipment and experts for the institute.

She also hoped that as one of the developing partners China will invest more in Bangladesh.

Moreover, the newly appointed ambassador conveyed the goodwill message of his country’s premier to Sheikh Hasina. He also invited her to visit China, the PM’s press secretary added.
