A mild cold wave has persisted in the northern district of Panchagarh for three consecutive days.
The temperature in Tentulia was recorded at 9.7 degrees Celsius at 9 am on Sunday (January 5), according to the Meteorological Office.
Despite a foggy morning, sunlight emerged later, offering some relief to residents, Banglanews Correspondent reports.
Earlier on Friday (January 3), the lowest temperature of this winter season was recorded at 8.3 degrees Celsius.
The temperature rose slightly to 9.4 degrees on Saturday (January 4) and further increased on Sunday.
Local observations reveal that cold winds blowing from night until morning have significantly reduced outdoor activity during these hours.
However, the appearance of the sun during the day has provided temporary respite.
Jitendranath Roy, officer-in-charge of Tentulia Meteorological Observatory, said that the cold wave has been steady over the district for three days.
“The amount of fog decreased today due to clear skies, allowing the sun to appear,” he said.
He added that the temperature was 9.7 degrees Celsius at 9 am and warned that the intensity of winter is likely to increase further in the coming days.
