Don't make any news that may create unrest in country: Sayem Sobhan Anvir

Sayem Sobhan Anvir, Managing Director of Bashundhara Group, the leading business conglomerate in the country, urged the crime reporters not to make any news that can create unrest in the country.

He said: "We have to remain united. You will help keep the country calm and quiet anyway. Don't make any news that can create confusion and sensation in the country. It is our responsibility. Please don't make any reports that can mislead people."

He made the urge while visiting the new office of Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB) in Nayapaltan of the capital on Thursday (Dec 22) afternoon.

Earlier, Bashundhara Group MD cut the ribbon and inaugurated the decoration work of CRAB'S new office. After 36 long years, Crab has been given this permanent office by Sayem Sobhan Anvir.

He also said, "You have got a permanent place after 36 years, I will hopefully give you a better place in the future. I will think of giving a building for the CRAB in our area. But this space is also beautiful. Inshallah, there will be better things in the days to come."

Bashundhara Group MD also said, "I received so much love from you today. Please pray for me, I will always be by your side."

"On behalf of my father, I want to say that you have 325 members. We will be always by your side. If you need anything, do not hesitate to inform."

President of CRAB Mirza Mehedi Tamal said: "Today is a historic day for the CRAB. The person who made the day historic is our beloved Bashundhara Group MD Sayem Sobhan Anvir."

"Sayem Sobhan made everyone's dreams come true. And we had such a dream, he showed it and he realized it in a very short time. We are grateful and will never forget your contribution," he added.

Walid Sobhan, son of Sayem Sobhan Anvir, was also present at this event.

Naem Nizam, Editor of Bangladesh Pratidin, said “It is a very happy moment for the CRAB to get a permanent address after 36 years.”

Imdadul Haque Milan, Editor-in-Chief of Kaler Kantho, said, “I think this is a memorable evening for the members of CRAB that Sayem Sobhan Anvir came to the place along with his son Ahmed Walid Sobhan. 

He mentioned that CRAB members will find Sayem Sobhan Anvir by their side in any situation.

Asaduzzaman Biku, General Secretary of CRAB, said “After being elected, we met Sayem Sobhan Anvir and put our four demands. After hearing our demands Sayem Sobhan Anvir assured us to fulfill our two demands. Thanks to Sayem Sobhan Anvir for the permanent place. We are very happy today.”

Parvez Khan, former president of CRAB, said, “I think Sayem Sobhan Anvir is our member. I am thanking Sayem Sobhan Anvir for the gift.” 

Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, Editor of The Daily Sun, Jewel Mazhar, Editor of Banglanews, Rahul Raha, Executive Editor of NEWS24 television, and Abu Tayeb, Advisor (Press and Media) of East West Media Group Limited, were present at the programme, moderated by Ataur Rahman.
