DETROIT (MICHIGAN): The U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh Dan Mozena said his country disapproves any kind of violence in Bangladesh.

“Political violence and hartal cannot be accepted,” he said while speaking to a group of Bangladeshi American professionals in Michigan.

The United States wishes that Bangladesh will hold its next general election in a completely violence free environment in which all political parties will participate, Mozena said.

Bangladesh-born professionals living in greater Detroit area recently accorded a reception to Ambassador Mozena while he visited Michigan.

Doctors, engineers, university professors, pharmacists, and other professionals attended the reception hosted by the Michigan chapters of American Association of Bangladeshi Engineers and Architects (AABEA) and Bangladesh Medical Association of North America (BMANA).

“Like the Bangladeshi expatriates, I am not happy with the current political situation in Bangladesh, ” Mozena said. He urged the two major political parties to solve the differences through dialogue.

Mike Duggan, mayor-elect of Detroit, also addressed the reception. He praised the contributions of Bangladeshi American professionals in automotive industry, healthcare, business, and other sectors in the city of Detroit and its suburbs.

Among others, Dr. AhmadulHasan, president of BMANA, Dr. NasimUddin, president of AABEA, Engineer MonirZaman, general secretary of AABEA, Dr. NazmulHaque, president-elect of BMANA, Engineer AfrozaAkhter of AABEA, and Dr. MahmudurRahman, professor of finance atEastern Michigan University, spoke on the occasion.

Ambassador Mozena said that the U.S. embassy in Dhaka willfacilitate every effort of the Bangladeshi-American professionals to help Bangladesh.
