Prime Minister said free, fair and impartial elections are necessary for the stability of development and progress in the country.
She said, “Now there is no chance of vote rigging as our government has given voter list with pictures. We have introduced smart NID card for the citizens. There is no opportunity to vote with fake voters."
Sheikh Hasina, also president of the ruling Awami League, was addressing a press conference regarding her recent visit to Qatar at Ganobhaban on Monday (March 13) afternoon.
"We wanted to vote in EVMs, many objected. The Election Commission will use EVMs as much as possible. Voters will vote through the use of modern technology, she said."
The prime minister said that development has been possible because the democratic process continues in the country, and also added that Awami League works with a sense of responsibility towards the people.
Sheikh Hasina said, "We have proved that development takes place when there is political stability." Sometimes you have to listen to criticism. After Awami League came to government, we opened everything. Even sitting abroad, many people criticize us. That opportunity has come about due to the development of information technology. We did it. Whatever anyone says, we will develop from confidence and sense of duty.”
