At least seven people were abducted by the miscreants from Jahajpura area under the Baharchara union of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar on Thursday (Mar 16).

The abducted people are - Rafik Alam, Aziz, Ayub and Fazal Karim, all are the residents of Jahajpura village of Baharchara union of the upazila.

According to locals, the seven people were reportedly abducted when they went to the area for collecting logs. They have already informed the matter to police.

In charge of Teknaf Baharchhara police investigation center Inspector Mashiur Rahman confirmed the matter.

Police operations to rescue the abductees are on, he said, adding "We are yet to confirm who is involved in the incident."
