A special session of the 11th Parliament has begun today (April 6) marking the 50th anniversary of the legislature.

The session, the second session of this year, has stared at 11 am.

This is the 22nd session of the current Parliament or Jatiya Sangsad.

President Abdul Hamid will deliver a memorial speech in the House highlighting the country’s achievement and the role of the legislature on April 7.

According to the constitution, the president must convene a session within 60 days of the last sitting of the previous session.

The last session of parliament was prorogued on February 9.
