The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday (April 6) caught red-handed an official of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) in Shariatpur, while taking Tk 50,000 bribe.
The arrestee was identified as Monir Hossain, deputy manager of BSCIC.
ACC secretary Md Mahbub Hossain confirmed the matter.
He said a team of ACC led by its deputy director Atiqur Rahman detained Monir at his office in Shariatpur.
Monir Hossain demanded a bribe of Tk 1,25,000 to send an application regarding changing the name and sub-sector of Messrs Dhali Mineral Water to the BSCIC chairman office, said the ACC secretary.
Md Mahbub said the ACC team detained Monir while he was accepting Tk 50,000 of the bribe amount from Dhali Mineral Water.
Shariatpur BCIC Industrial City Officer Ark Sarkar said, "I cannot say on what charges an ACC team raided our office this afternoon. They arrested our deputy manager."
