DHAKA: Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd) Javed Ali on Tuesday said the Election Commission would deploy army if require considering the law-and-order situation.

He also told the journalists that the military forces would be kept at the field for long time during the polls.

The election commissioner came up with the assertion while talking to journalists at the commission secretariat.

Javed said the election commission would also send letter to political parties to remove political publicity, poster and billboard and stop showdown within 48 hours.

The former army official urged all political parties and candidates to maintain electoral code of conduct.
