Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today (April 24) expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Pankaj Bhattacharya, one of the organisers of the Great Liberation War and Oikya NAP President. 

In a message of condolence, she prayed for the salvation of his departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Pankaj Bhattacharya breathed his last at a hospital in the city around 12:25am today at the age of 83.

One of the veteran politicians of Bangladesh, Pankaj Bhattacharya was a leading activist and organizer of all democratic movements in Bangladesh starting from the 1962 Education Movement, the Liberation War and the subsequent struggles.
